On Thursday, October 16, 2010, in North Spain Jacobo Piñero was sentenced 58 years in prison for stabbing two gay men, Isaac Pérez Triviño and Julio Anderson Luciano, 57 times in 2006. The court gave Jacobo 2 years for each murder, 18 years for an attempt to eradicate the evidence by burning the men's flat. Jacobo is also required that pay one mother of the men 400,000 euros. Jacobo stated that he killed the them out of self defense. He said that he feared that the men would try to rape him.
